Position: Security Guard

Site: NOVA Chemicals (Corunna Site, Rokeby Site, St. Clair River Site, Moore Site)

City: Sarnia, ON

Status: Casual

Hours: Various Shifts

Pay Rate: $18.35 - $22.24

Position Overview:

The job of a Paladin Security Guard serving NOVA is to provide such services that are required within established post orders or given by direct communication by their manager. These include the keeping of logs, the supervision of safety orientations, response to alarms and site emergencies and any other duties NOVA may require. The Security Guard is to maintain a secure post and through due diligence offer protection to those on site and for the assets of NOVA.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Enforce compliance to company policies and procedures.
  • Control access and provide a response capability to address security breaches, site emergencies, and incidences of accident or injury on the site.
  • Experience with CCTV, access control, and traffic control would be an asset.
  • The Security Guard should strive to know the NOVA and contract personnel that they encounter daily on their site. They should also communicate one to another that information that ensures a consistent level of service.
  • Patrol assigned area on foot, as assigned, to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.
  • Scheduling Fleet Vehicles,Ordering Overtime meals,
  • MSA four gas monitor/Radio repair requests
  • Ongoing maintenance of all security journals and log books, ie: temporary card keys, key sign out, temporary contracts and visitor passes, etc. NOVA Maintenance personnel/Emergency call-ins
  • IEC Database entries, Taxi voucher issuance
  • Contractor entry monitoring, validation of proper qualifications to gain entry to site
  • Lightning Monitoring
  • Humidex readings
  • CAER communications, monitoring of channels for industry alert
  • Contractor Site Safety Training
  • Vehicle bag/Inspections
  • Maintenance of all emergency and security systems within the facilities.
  • Watch for and report irregularities by completing investigations and incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required.
  • Utilize two-way radio and computer applications for communicating site activities.
  • Offer support to any person in need such as providing good customer service when provided

Requirements:

  • At least two years of security experience in an industrial setting would be an asset.

  • Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Mental Health Act

  • G license required.

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
