We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Casual Lifeguards to join the Aquatics team within the Recreation & Programs Business Centre and Parks & Recreation Division. This position reports to the Aquatics Team Leader and is responsible for:
- Ensuring the safety of all users at all times through education and if necessary, perform rescues and first-aid as required;
- Planning and instruct swim lessons while also providing student evaluations and discuss progress with participants or parents;
- Assisting with new staff orientation; handle customer inquiries/concerns while providing exceptional customer service;
- Ensuring facility, pool, hot tub and equipment are clean and well maintained;
- Participating in promoting safety training in pool usages and operations;
- Ensuring work carried out complies with environmental and safety legislation and guidelines;
- Participating in cross training duties and on-call work, to ensure that Aquatic operations have coverage on all shifts;
- Providing support to Aquatics and other areas in the Town as required and perform other duties as assigned to facilitate special events and emergency situations.
Candidates will be required to work evenings and weekends.

##What you Bring
A combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to qualify. A typical way to qualify is equivalency to completion of a high school diploma or equivalent or working towards a high school diploma for those applying for a Junior Lifeguard position and are under the age of 18. In addition to the following:
- National Lifesaving (NL), Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) with Swim for Life, and Intermediate First Aid, CPR – level C is required;
- Possession of Pool Operations and/or Aqua-fitness (CALA) or equivalent is considered an asset;
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships;
- Aptitude for strong customer service skills;
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail, time management and problem solving skills;
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office).
