This position is 1.0 PY (full-time position).

Located in the picturesque hamlet of Kugaaruk, Arviligruaq Ilinniarvik School serves the community of Kugaaruk. The school has a population of approximately 381 students in a K-12 setting with a staff of 46. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor of Education degree
• Teaching certification acceptable for Nunavut teaching certification
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience

Desired qualifications:

• Experience and/or training with current assessment methods
• Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
• Experience and/or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (e.g. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behaviour Supports, etc.)
• Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience
• Training and/or teaching experience in an ESL environment
• Evidence/experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders
• Successful experience in conflict resolution
• Using data analysis to support student learning
• Computer knowledge and experience with administrative software
• Course work, certification, demonstrated experience in leadership
• Demonstrated experience in leading teamwork and collaboration activities

Please note: Subsidized housing is available but sharing may be required.

The salary for certified vice principals ranges from $105,049 prorated/annum. to $153,368 prorated/annum.

The Northern Allowance for Kugaaruk is $26,639 prorated/annum.
