About the role

Be part of the team to deliver Industry Leading Quality on SUPERDUTY TRUCKS at Ford’s Oakville Assembly Complex. For this position you will have primary responsibility for delivering Wind Noise, Road Noise, Air Leakage, and Squeak & Rattle and work with a team of other Ford PVT engineers at the plant.

The assembly plant is a dynamic and changing environment. This position offers the ability to directly impact and improve vehicle quality and improve customer satisfaction. This position and work is exciting, challenging, and most of all rewarding as you are part of the team delivering a great vehicle.

Our PVT teams are located across the world at all of our assembly plants. You will join that community and have the ability to interface with other regions when faced with similar challenges. The position has a direct tie and interfaces directly to our global product development team located in Dearborn, MI.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's of Science/Engineering degree or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical issues, performing methodical data analysis, and applying effective analytical and statistical skills. This can be evidenced through professional experience, academic projects, coursework, research, or relevant internships.
  • Proven understanding of vehicle evaluation principles, driving dynamics, and assessment methodologies.
  • Ability to work with and lead assembly plant / supplier team to implement changes required for vehicle improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience Vehicle Engineering, including Wind Noise, Road Noise, Air Leakage, and Squeak & Rattle experience.
  • Six-Sigma Black Belt Certification is preferred.
  • Assembly or production plant experience.
  • Data acquisition hardware and software knowledge.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work autonomously as well as lead team toward common goal.
  • Communication skills are key, must give clear and accurate direction to all team members and management, speak confidently.
  • Must be able to multi-task and adapt quickly to changing needs and direction.

Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.

The primary responsibilities for this position include but not limited to:

  • Root cause disposition of any vehicle level issues to respective functional engineering activities
  • Lead local Squeak & Rattle, Wind Noise and Road Noise to meet stringent quality targets (customer surveys and warranty)
  • Lead Air Leakage as a critical-X that affects many quality factors including wind/road noise, powertrain noise, climate control functions, dust intrusion, water leaks, and more
  • Lead on any related product holds (Stop ships, campaigns, quality issues, etc.)
  • Work directly with hourly personnel, engineers, suppliers and all levels of company management
  • On site launch lead for Squeak & Rattle, Wind Noise, Road Noise and Air Leakage attributes
  • Champion quality status by monitoring early warranty claims, binning claims, contact dealerships on parts, make HOT requests to ship parts to suppliers for root cause evaluation
  • Support Plant cost reduction and quality improvement efforts
  • Chair / support local and Dearborn-based Vehicle Engineering / Product Development team meetings
  • Support engineering change trials
  • Identify emerging issues and react quickly to scope issue
  • Lead/Support vehicle evaluation drives
  • Lead onsite quality management reviews
  • Manage online quality systems with project inputs, project health, and glidepaths
  • Minimal travel will be required for the job to support supplier visits and out of state drive events.
