Trinity College School is seeking to fill the following external contract position. Reporting to the Athletics Program Director, the Weight Training Instructor is responsible for helping to oversee our fitness centre and program. We are looking for a motivated individual, with a knowledge and passion for strength & conditioning and weight training. This contract runs from September 2025 to May 2026, approximately 10 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, and Sunday afternoons as needed).
Key Responsibilities
- Support our vast co-curricular program and work regularly with faculty and our athletics department to design and deliver weight training and fitness programs for students of all comfort and experience levels, fostering strength development and working to establish positive self-esteem in a supportive environment
- Lead sessions for students in Grades 9-12, with a focus on fundamental movement patterns and the safe, effective use of free weight equipment
- Provide students with regular feedback to support their skill development, technique improvement, and overall performance
- Offer students individualized assessments and tailored progressions that align with their experience and goals
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages engagement and potential
- Ensure proper use of all equipment to reduce risk of injury and maintain equipment condition; be responsible for coaching students on proper and safe technique
Requirements
- A post-secondary degree with relevant specialization in kinesiology, wellness, recreation/sports management or related field
- Recognized certification as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and/or other specialized classes
- Proven experience working in the fitness industry
- Ability to manage and communicate effectively with students in Grades 9-12
- CPR/First Aid and AED certification
- Knowledge of basic health and safety training
- Ability to complete criminal record and vulnerable sector police screening
