Horizon Health Network in beautiful New Brunswick is looking for a Regional Director, Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management to join our team!

Horizon Health Network (Horizon) is seeking a strategic, motivated, and innovative individual to join our team as a Regional Director, Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management. The Regional Director provides strategic leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management across the health authority. This role ensures compliance with accreditation standards, provincial healthcare legislation, mandates, organizational goals, and supports a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and safe, high-quality care.

Who you are

You hold a master’s degree in in a health-related field, healthcare administration, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. You have excellent communication, analytical, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills and have worked a minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, or risk management at a Director/Manager level. You have a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams with complex, multi-site initiatives and influence organizational change, and have a strong knowledge of healthcare systems, regulations, accreditation standards/ processes, and quality improvement methodologies such as LEAN, Six Sigma. Certification in quality or risk management (e.g., CPHQ, CPSO, ASHRM) is an asset.

What you will do

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans and operational plans for quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management in alignment with legislation, regulatory requirements, Horizon’s strategic plan, and Accreditation Canada’s standards.
  • Develop and implement strategic frameworks, policies, and programs to improve patient safety and care quality.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to embed evidence-informed practices and quality standards.
  • Provide visionary leadership and mentorship to staff.

Program Oversight:

  • Oversee approved incident management, critical incident reviews, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage portfolio multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites including recruitment, performance assessments, conflict resolution, and budget, ensuring adherence to the Regional Health Authority Accountability Framework.

Performance & Evaluation:

  • Use data-driven insights to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, monitor and evaluate portfolio and organizational performance metrics, dashboards, and quality improvement plans.

Collaboration & Engagement:

  • Serve as a strategic business partner, advisor, and leader to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization by providing and embedding evidence-informed practices and into clinical policy, education, and system redesign.
  • Represent the organization on regional committees related to quality and safety.
  • Coordinate education and training on quality and safety practices.
