GEI is seeking a Junior Hydrogeologist to support a variety of environmental and hydrogeological projects. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in groundwater investigations, environmental monitoring, and hydrogeological assessments, while working alongside multidisciplinary teams across the organization.
The successful candidate will contribute to both field programs and technical reporting, supporting project delivery through data collection, analysis, and preparation of technical documentation. This position involves a combination of field and office-based work, offering exposure to a range of environmental and infrastructure-related projects.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
This position involves, but is not limited to:

Communicating with clients, project managers, and team members to support coordination and delivery of project tasks
-
Assisting with field investigations, including sampling of soil, groundwater, and surface water
-
Supporting groundwater monitoring programs and environmental site investigations
-
Assisting with the preparation of technical reports and documentation, including Phase Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Designated Substance Surveys (DSS), hydrogeological studies, landfill monitoring reports, excess soil reporting, and regulatory submissions such as ECA and PTTW/EASR applications
-
Supporting data compilation, analysis, and interpretation related to groundwater and environmental conditions
-
Working with multidisciplinary engineering and environmental teams to achieve project goals
-
Participating in both field and office-based work depending on project needs
-
Certain assignments may require flexibility to work outside normal work hours during field programs
Minimum Qualifications
-
0–3 years of related experience in hydrogeology, environmental consulting, groundwater assessment, or a related field
-
Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geoscience, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
-
Eligibility or interest in pursuing P.Geo. or P.Eng. designation considered an asset
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to contribute to technical reporting
-
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
-
Basic understanding of soil characteristics, groundwater systems, and environmental regulations
-
Familiarity with groundwater monitoring equipment, such as level loggers, considered an asset
-
Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
-
Willingness to participate in both field and office-based work depending on project requirements
-
Valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle for field assignments
-
