Your Opportunity:
Under the direction of the Recreation Therapist and under the general supervision of the Manager, working to enrich the lives of the residents in Supportive Living by providing the support and assistance implementing recreation activities. Performs interventions under the direction of and as delegated by the Recreation Therapist in accordance with established standards and procedures of the Recreation Therapy Department. Provides a broad range of individual and group activities that are developed to meet the residents' needs under the guidance of the Recreation Therapist. Drives the Handibus when required for community outings. Assists residents in getting ready for community outings when off site. Works collaboratively with other staff, families, and volunteers. Assist residents with toileting and personal care as required when off site. Note: Nanton is 70 km south of Calgary. Description:
As a Therapy Aide, you will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team where you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, equipment inventory and preparing/cleaning the treatment area. Under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, or speech language pathologist, you will prepare and/or apply routine interventions, promote patient (client, resident) healthy living, self-care independence and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs. You may assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) within the context of the therapy program.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Good knowledge of written and oral English. Current CPR certification. Experience working in a Supportive living setting. Experience with clients that have dementia. Experience in recreation programs for therapeutic recreation. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with patients/clients, families, visitors and team members. Well-developed time management skills. Ability to handle the physical demands of the position
Preferred Qualifications:
Health Care Aide certification or equivalent an asset. Dementia Care education an asset.
