The Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated leader to be a part of our team as an Auxiliary Recreation Leader I.
The Recreation Leader I will assist the Recreation Coordinator and the Recreation Leader II from the Children's area with the implementation of programs and camps. Responsibilities will include participating in the planning and implementation of programs, purchasing supplies, scheduling substitute instructors (or leading the class if necessary), and dealing with parent concerns. This position will provide instruction and coaching to program instructors while ensuring the safety of participants.
Hours of work for this auxiliary position will include weekday afternoon shifts, Monday to Friday, 2:30 - 5:30 pm.
Basic Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education and 6 months of related post-secondary courses in recreation plus a minimum of one year of recent, related experience working with children in a recreational facility
- Strong team building, leadership and communication skills
- Experience coaching or instructing children
- Good organizational skills
- Supervisory experience would be an asset
- Proficiency with computers (preferably experience with MS Office)
- Experience with the Perfect Mind registration
- A valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required
- Standard First Aid with CPR -C and AED
