About the role
The Opportunity:
WSP’s Property & Buildings M&E Team is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our growing team in the Hamilton office. This position is based in the Southwest Ontario region with options to work from Burlington, Cambridge, Kitchener and/or London offices. You will be responsible for various aspects of the design and be responsible for modeling, drafting, design and site review of mechanical systems for various Property & Buildings projects. You would also be required to attend client sites to evaluate existing conditions, as well as review construction progress.

What you can expect to do here:
- Operate AutoCAD and/or Revit to prepare engineering drawings.
- Work with senior staff in the development of drawing packages;
- Design HVAC and Building Automation systems, plumbing and fire-protection systems;
- Analysis of the building’s heating, ventilation, and cooling loads;
- Perform engineering calculations using various software’s and tools;
- Coordinate with the project team, external vendors, engineers and architects.
- Occasional local travel will be required depending on project-specific requirements.
What you’ll bring to WSP:

Mechanical Engineering Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution;

2 to 4 years of related experience;
-
Working knowledge with AutoCAD and Revit software;
-
Basic knowledge and understanding of building codes and standards.

Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets and Excel is an asset

Enthusiastic, eager to learn, detail oriented, organized, hard worker, and team player attitude;

Excellent Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
