The Opportunity

Company, Department: Nova Scotia Power, Finance

Type of Employment: Regular, Full-Time Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia Closing Date: July 29th, 2026 We are currently looking for a Senior Manager, Financial Reporting to join our Finance team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Controller you will be responsible for overseeing the month end accounting and financial reporting process, including oversight of internal controls over across the organization, and the leadership of the Corporate Accounting Team.

Key elements of this role include

Taking leadership of the Corporate Accounting group

Responsible for overseeing the company's month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes to ensure financial results are complete and accurate Responsible for monitoring and execution of internal SOX controls related to Financial Reporting Supporting NS Power's external financial statement audit, including working with Nova Scotia Power's external auditors through quarterly reviews and the annual audit of financial results Responsible for review and analysis of financial results and communication of results to various stakeholders across the organization Responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with business partners and cross-functional teams across the organization Responsible for supporting the on-going development of an inclusive culture within Finance and across NS Power.

These skills will make you successful

You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and possess many, if not all, of the following skills and experience listed below: Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance or Accounting Minimum of 10 years in an Accounting and/or Finance role, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role Proficient in technical accounting concepts as well as a broad understanding of enterprise financial risk, corporate governance, and process control design Experience with review of detailed analytical work, possessing strong quantitative skills and Excel skills Proven ability to lead a team of dedicated financial professionals to deliver their maximum performance in a rapidly changing and fast paced environment Strong communication, analytical and decision-making skills Ability to work inclusively with various individuals to achieve shared objectives and maintain effective business relationships Experience in a regulated utility will be considered an asset Knowledge of the Oracle Fusion financial reporting system would be considered an asset We understand that experience comes in many forms, and we're dedicated to adding new perspectives to the team. We provide 95 per cent of the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Nova Scotia, and serve over 500,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers across the province.

Our 1,700 dedicated, safety-focused employees help manage $5 billion worth of generation, transmission and distribution assets and produce more than 10,000 gigawatt hours of electricity each year.

We use a fuel mix including hydro, tidal, wind, coal, oil, biomass and natural gas to generate electricity. Our facilities can generate as much as 2,453 megawatts of electricity that is delivered across 32,000 km of transmission and distribution lines throughout Nova Scotia.
