Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking an experienced Area Supervisor to support operations in High River, Alberta. This position will require travel to and from sites in High River and surrounding areas.
The Area Supervisor will be directly responsible for coordinating and scheduling the actives of employees assigned to a designated area. As the successful incumbent you will ensure all work packages are completed to the required client specifications and ensure all work methods/safety standards are adhered to at the site, and if required correct any actions that are not to the Forbes Bros standard.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Maintains a safe working environment by ensuring all employees follow the Forbes Bros safety and environmental work practices and procedures
- Ensure workers are deemed competent in the tasks they perform
- Provides direct coaching and support to workers on their operational, technical, and HS&E roles and responsibilities
- Performs regular field inspections and follow-up with workers regarding their quality and safety of work
- Identifies, develops, and implements standards and programs to enhance the Operational Excellence safety culture while proficiently and effectively meeting operational needs
- Never put workers in a position where they must choose between HS&E and production
- Responsible for performance evaluations of Foreman with input on the evaluations of project staff completed by Foreman
- Supervises all employees onsite; provides feedback, enforces company practices and administers disciplinary measures as required.
- Provides senior level presence on-site, reviews site labour requirements and mentors/coaches staff on proper procedures and techniques related to construction
- Reviews employee productivity, compliance with obtaining work permits, safety codes, material, and equipment expenses
- Manage Subcontractors when required
- Work with the client to build and maintain relationships
- Submit change orders when required
- Adhere to Fortis Alberta Contract Requirements
- Review Unit estimates, Subcontractor PO's and billing reviews
- Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned
What we are looking for:
- Completion of Powerline Technician Red Seal Trade Program, is required
- Ten (10) + years' experience with Utility / Powerline Construction or related field, is required with a minimum of five (5) of those years' experience in a Foreman or Supervisor role
- Managing Projects or Area Work and Clients, an asset
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with excellent time management skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Able and willing to travel and accommodate project/site schedules as required
- Able and willing to work flexible and or extended hours in accordance with project/site requirements
