The Communications & Engagement Division has an exciting opportunity for a Graphic Designer to join our in-house Creative Services team.
We're looking for a creative, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys the challenge of designing within a large, dynamic organization. The ideal candidate is a strong team player who is eager to grow their skills while contributing to meaningful community-focused projects.
In this role, you'll create high-quality, cohesive designs that support multiple City departments and initiatives. You'll work within the City's brand architecture to deliver professional, accurate, and visually compelling materials, often under tight timelines.
We value ongoing learning and career development, and support our team through workshops, training, and collaboration with industry professionals.
##Responsibilities
As part of a team of designers and communications coordinators, you will:
- Design and produce a wide range of materials, including brochures, ads, digital assets, presentations, booklets, posters, flyers, invitations, signage, and other marketing collateral.
- Ensure all creative work aligns with the City¿s brand and sub-brand guidelines while maintaining consistency across platforms.
- Contribute to the development and application of visual identity style guides.
- Interpret creative briefs and collaborate with internal clients to deliver professional, accurate, and high-quality designs.
- Apply expertise in typography, branding, and design principles to create accessible and engaging communications.
- Support photography and image editing needs as required.
##Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 plus a post-secondary education from a recognized graphic design institute.
- 2-3 years of graphic design experience.
- Valid BC driver's license
Our ideal candidate will bring:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
- Understanding digital design, accessibility standards, branding, and commercial printing/pre-press techniques.
- Strong skills in typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- A collaborative mindset with excellent communication and client service skills.
