Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. About the Role
Position: Site Services Operations Supervisor
Schedule: 3/2/4/3 - 9 Hour Days
Position Reports to: Site Services Superintendent
Position Overview
The key objective of this position is to manage the daily Site Services Operations to achieve all maintenance and operational targets with specific focus on Health, Safety, Environment and Cost Effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety and Environment:

Ensure all Health, Safety and Environment Policies & Procedures are adhered to by all direct reports
-
Conduct Pre-Shift Toolbox Meetings and Monthly Safety Meetings
-
Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained
-
Perform rotational Job Observations, Workplace Inspections and PPE Audits
-
Investigate all Health, Safety and Environment near misses or incidents and develop action plans to prevent re-occurrence
-
Identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement in developing best practices and SOPs to minimize risks
Human Resources:
Effectively manage direct reports in the areas of:
-
Coaching and mentoring for personal development
-
Development of Training Plans with the assistance of Mine Training
-
Performance Management
-
Leave and Attendance Management
-
Setting clear expectations and accountabilities
Business KPI’s:
-
Establish goals, schedules, and priorities for the Site Services Team
-
Complete all time entry, vacation requests and scheduling
-
Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
-
Coordinating work between internal departments (Site Services Maintenance) and external departments (Mine Ops, Mill Ops, Mill Maintenance, Mobile Maintenance, Health and Safety, Environment, Construction, Projects)
-
Ensure water treatment plants are operated to established quality standards
-
Ensure water discharge to the environment targets are met
-
Ensure that maintenance targets are met
-
Ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner
-
Plan, organize and control maintenance activities using SAP
-
Ensure Site Services teams are informed of priorities and any necessary changes
-
Maintain safety and environmental systems consistent with business policies
-
Provide input into the recruitment and selection of Site Services employees
-
Ensure employees have a clear understanding of work objectives and expectations of performance levels

Lead by example adhering to all Policies and Procedures

Any additional tasks as requested by your Superintendent
Core Competencies:
-
Certification in an Electrical trade
-
Ontario Supervisor Common Core
-
8-10 years of related maintenance experience
-
2 years of experience in a supervisory role
-
Demonstrated thorough knowledge of Safety Management Systems including LOTO, JHA’s, Job Observations, Workplace Inspections, Daily/Monthly Safety Meetings, Incident Investigations
-
Knowledge of OSHA requirements
-
Knowledge of water treatment equipment including Pumps, Mixers, Agitators, Blowers, PH Meters, Flowmeters and control valves
-
Possess good computer skills including Microsoft Office
-
Demonstrates strong time management and organization skills
-
Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills
-
Demonstrates superior interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a team
-
Demonstrates effective coaching, mentoring and delegating skills
-
Demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
-
Possess Valid G driver's license
Supervise/Direct Reports:

Directly Supervises an Operating Crew of 6 Site Services WTP Operators, 1 Fire/Alarm System Technician, and 1 Electrician

Point of contact and oversees contracted groundskeeping crew

Point of contact and oversees contracted cleaning crew

Point of contact and oversees contracted water and sewage handling
-
Point of contact and oversees contracted fire protection and alarm system vendors
