Role
The purpose of the Ramp Supervisor position is to ensure the reliable, safe and continuous operation of this critical infrastructure essential to the supply of our markets. Reporting to the Director, Distribution, the Supervisor will be responsible for managing a team of four employees assigned to the tanker loading ramp. The supervisor will have to adopt a mobilizing approach in order to engage his team and promote a positive synergy between the different stakeholders. In this sense, he will have to make the most of his management, problem solving and coordination skills. He will act as a resource for the operations and management systems related to the loading ramp. He may also be called upon to negotiate transportation rates and participate in certain aspects of transportation logistics. The incumbent will monitor the loading ramp operating system. He will also identify opportunities for improvement, develop and implement solutions to optimize the efficiency, reliability or safety of loading ramp operations.
Responsabilities
Ensure the work planning of the team by coordinating the shifts of the attendants in order to ensure a continuous operation of the truck loading ramp Communicate on a daily basis with his team; set objectives, guide and define action plans Ensure product quality is maintained by acting as a resource person for the loading ramp operating system (Toptech) Ensure compliance with operational procedures for control and operation of the loading ramp and deliveries Analyze the interruptions of the different systems of the ramp and coordinate the corrective actions with the intervening parties in an efficient way Perform various administrative tasks related to invoicing, periodic reporting, volume reconciliations, etc. Negotiate transportation rates with contracted carriers and complete delivery assignments Coordinate various transportation movements, including the mobilization of tanker trucks for delivery.
College degree in a relevant field
Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience Experience in personnel management, a major asset Proficiency with various computer systems, particularly Excel Ability to work under pressure and adaptability Ability to coordinate interactions between different stakeholders Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Bilingualism in French and English (oral and written) Valero Energy Inc. is governed by the Charter of the French Language. However, knowledge of English is considered necessary for performing the tasks of this position. The individual in this position will be required to review documents and interact both verbally and in writing with colleagues at the head office in Texas or in other Canadian provinces, or with various stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, unilingual anglophone business partners.
