Position Profile

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time

About Us

Fraser Academy (FA) is an independent school in Kitsilano, Vancouver, BC serving students in Gr. 2-12 with dyslexia and language-based learning differences through day and outreach programs. We serve a gap in the system where approximately 20% of the student population is underserved by mainstream education. The ripple effect of our programming extends beyond academics, creating meaningful social impact. While our student population has skills and strengths which are in demand in the 21st century, they are also at greater risk for mental health challenges, substance abuse, higher drop-out rates, and other risks when not adequately supported.

We are proud to be at the forefront of educational practices, providing a learner-centric environment with the most effective research-based methods to optimize personalized learning, cognitive, social and emotional development, and post-secondary opportunities setting our students up for a successful life. The Opportunity

The Communications Officer is responsible for providing professional communications support to Fraser Academy's (the day school’s) senior leadership team and administration staff and producing communications to drive school priorities and foster a strong community through recruitment, retention, internal communications, and external communications. Serve as the school’s communications expert, ensuring all materials follow industry best practices, and provide guidance and tips to staff, faculty, and students on creating high-quality, effective communications when needed.

  • Act as brand champion, ensuring all visual and written communications—including those produced by school team members outside of the MarCom team—adhere to brand guidelines, tone of voice, key messages, and maintaining the integrity of the school’s brand identity.

This also includes acting as the designated backup responsible for maintaining internal calendars in the absence of the primary staff.

  • Support school events, e.g. Open Houses, staff meetings, Fraser Academy Parent Community initiatives, information sessions, alumni events, and more, by ensuring presentations are ready, A/V needs are coordinated with IT, and venues are set up to reflect FA at its best. This also includes preparing and displaying appropriate collateral, offering a warm and welcoming presence for guests, and providing speaking notes as needed.
