THE ROLE Military Family Services stewards the Military and Veteran Family Services Program to help military and Veteran families manage the demands of family life, work and operational needs. Many stakeholders and partners work together and contribute to the well-being of military and Veteran families.

The Family Liaison Officer is a dedicated resource within a multidisciplinary team at the Transition Centre to support families of military members who are coping with illness, injury or releasing from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).

The Family Liaison Officer conducts intake assessments, provides short-term counselling, and connects families with community partners, such as the Military Family Resource Centre.

Qualifications Needed Education, Certifications and Licenses Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, or a related field, AND several years of experience in social work and human services, or a related field.

AND

Must be eligible for registration within their professional designation.

Experience In crisis intervention and risk management

In clinical assessment and counselling services

In working with families and family systems

In working with a multidisciplinary team and human services organizations

In professional networking

In family case management

In response to critical incidents

In developing, coordinating and facilitating workshops

In developing, coordinating and facilitating support groups

In developing and coordinating family service oriented programs

In budget administration

Competencies, Skills And Abilities Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

Language Requirements English essential, Bilingual an asset.
