Job Details

The City of St. Albert is recruiting individuals to join our Transit Parts Shop as a Casual Labourer. Under the direction of the respective Team Lead, this position will be responsible for performing manual labour, using simple hand and/or power tools, and operating motorized municipal light-duty equipment in a proper and safe manner.

Qualifications

  • Completion of grade 10 or equivalent, a high school diploma or GED is an asset.
  • Some experience in a related field, including shipping and receiving parts, and light building maintenance is an asset.
  • Parts, Shipping & Receiving experience preferred.
  • Must be physically capable of performing assigned duties including repeatedly lifting and carrying loads up to 50 pounds throughout an 8-hour shift, shoveling dirt for 20 minutes at a time, and performing repetitive tasks for 1 hour or more
  • Ability to understand and respond to verbal and written instructions
  • Current Basic First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with the public
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

Hours of Work

The hours of work are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break and two 15 minute breaks.

Compensation

The wage ranges from $18.43 - $21.42 per hour based on the collective agreement rates.
