As an Executive Director (ED) at Princess Gardens, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of our retirement residence and for promoting an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality for our residents. Reporting to the Vice President, the ED will effectively utilize his/her team leadership skills to motivate and engage their team to provide care to the highest standard. The ED will maximize operational excellence while building a strong community comprised of meaningful and productive relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that appropriate levels of care and service are provided to residents through effective staffing and optimal use of resources.
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures to uphold the highest standards of care, safety, and resident satisfaction.
  • Utilize and monitor quality assurance programs to maintain exceptional care, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards at all times.
  • Coordinate positive interactions with residents and families, fostering open communication and family involvement within the community.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for Health & Safety programs such as Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC) and Fire Prevention; ensure adherence to all policies and guidelines.
  • Participate in the selection, development, and motivation of a skilled, multidisciplinary team; provide coaching, training, and performance monitoring, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Lead labour relations within the Home, ensuring a respectful and collaborative work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator and other Executive Directors to maintain and enhance occupancy levels.
  • Actively engage in public relations initiatives to promote the Home’s positive image within the community.
  • Represent the Home at community, professional, and civic meetings.
  • Promote opportunities for cooperation with our sister-Homes to optimize service delivery and resource use.
  • Ensure effective reporting, documentation, and auditing to support operational excellence.
  • Manage the Home’s budget, achieving financial objectives while maintaining high-quality resident services.
  • Deliver on the Home’s annual Net Operating Income goals and provide performance reporting to Senior
  • Management, identifying emerging issues and recommending corrective actions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of equivalent experience in a Retirement Residence, Long Term Care Home, hospitality industry, or general management
  • Possesses sound judgement and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to liaison with, and have familiarity of, the workings of the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA), Ministry of Health, Ontario Health, hospital and other community resources
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead an efficient, productive workforce is essential
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
