With effect from 01 April 2026, NHS Scotland is reducing its full-time working week from 37 to 36 hours per week, there will be no change in full time pay. We currently have a vacancy for newly qualified or experienced First Level Registered Mental Health Nurses, within Psychiatry of Old Age services, Angus. We are a very friendly and welcoming service which consists of a 12 bedded functional assessment unit and a 12 bedded organic unit, located at Stracathro Hospital.

Candidates should have a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and if not newly qualified, be able to demonstrate equivalent experience of previous post registration experience.

Candidates must have a positive approach to teamwork, a commitment to caring for older people and to their ongoing professional development. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate current thinking, in relation to older people and mental health care and a willingness to respond positively to change. Experience of working with older people with both, organic and functional mental health problems and excellent communication skills are essential.

Hours of work: full time 37 hours per week. It is a requirement of the posts that you participate in the provision of a 24-hour service, and you will be required to work day or night duty dependant on the needs of the service. This will be remunerated, accordingly.
