About the role

MPS Group, Inc., is currently seeking an Operations Manager based in Oakville, ON. This individual is responsible for ensuring all paint spray-booth related processes are operating at peak performance, including: detackification water quality and feed systems, downdraft spray-booth air balance, HVAC systems performance, compressed air dryers, booth air filtration and environment compliance, are all within engineering limits as set-out in the operating control plan. Also, you will head up the Wastewater Treatment Plant managing operations to comply with all facility, town and region regulatory compliance guidelines.

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

  • Interact with maintenance, production, and supplier teams to troubleshoot and resolve process and facility related quality concerns.
  • Lead the on-site team by example of a safety driven culture
  • Align KPI’s with customers and exceed expectations of deliverables.
  • Oversee analytical testing of booth water chemical systems.
  • Compile and review daily analytical data and prepare reports.
  • Perform inspections of process and facility equipment and report findings.
  • Collect and interpret paint booth environment data including airflow, temperature, humidity, static pressures, equipment status & health, etc.
  • Perform and verify air balancing of paint spray booths.
  • Monitor and report on facility and process air filtration programs.
  • Monitor paint facility cleaning operations and the impact on quality metrics.
  • Measure and report environmental and energy reduction initiatives.
  • Support customer requirements for cost savings initiatives.
  • Support first time paint quality initiatives.
  • Manage and monitor wastewater treatment processes, including pumps, tanks, chemical dosing systems, solids filtration systems, clarifiers, etc.
  • Oversee routine inspections, sampling, and raw water analysis.
  • Oversee wastewater lab tests and interpret the results to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize chemical usage and overall system performance.
  • Monitor daily logs, documentation, and regulatory records.
  • Conduct basic maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Communicate plant status and issues to Management and customer.
  • Comply with regulatory guidelines for the facility, town and region.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four years of experience with increasing responsibilities in a management role with operations, sales and estimating background.
  • Strong work ethic with a record of dependable and self-motivated work experience.
  • Experience in a Union environment and managing technical staff and operators.
  • Ability to work shifts including weekends and nights.
  • Perform work in a logical, orderly, and skillful manner.
  • Use tools and equipment correctly, efficiently, and accurately related to air handling systems and paint water chemistry technology.
  • Auto Assembly Paint Shop or Tier 2 Manufacturing Paint background an asset.
  • Experience with Automotive Manufacturing Paint Shop Technical experience an asset.
  • Experience with booth balance an asset.
  • Paint defect identification experience an asset.
  • Experience in industrial and municipal wastewater systems.
  • MECP Wastewater Operator Certification (OIT or higher).
  • Ability to troubleshoot pumps, valves, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to perform physical work in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to climb stairs, work in hot and humid environments, lift materials up to 25kg, work longer shifts and weekends when required.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office applications and MMS experience.
