Position Summary

This position will be responsible for supervising all daily operations of the pools, waterfront and lifeguards. The successful candidate will be responsible for guard rotation and holding the team accountable for the safety of each guest using the pools and waterfront. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recognizes and greets all guests and team member first
  • Provides exceptional and professional service to our guests and team members
  • Ensures the well-being of our guests and team members by being alert to and reporting potential hazards
  • Models all Deerhurst Resort Standards while caring for the guests, co-workers and owners
  • Comfortable making responsible decisions and develops recommendations for effective problem solving
  • Is responsible for supervising all daily operations of the pools, waterfront and lifeguards
  • Assists Recreation Supervisor’s in overseeing the operation and staff
  • Holds the team accountable for the safety of each guest encounter/interaction
  • Maintains a safe and fun environment
  • Explains and enforces pool/waterfront regulations, rules and policies
  • Attends to any guest complaint to ensure the guest need is met, dialogue with guest is tracked, follows-up with team member and ensures root-cause is reviewed to minimize re-occurrence
  • Ensures cleanliness of area and equipment is maintained throughout the day
  • Maintains equipment and ensures it is in proper working order
  • Daily checklists completed and follow up with any concerns
  • Responds to first aid and emergency situations
  • Is responsible for clearing and closing the pools/waterfront if necessary
  • Guest oriented with a sincere, helpful, caring and friendly personality
  • Able to take initiative within given guidelines

Education & Experience

  • Previous leadership experience an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Lifeguard is required
  • First Aid/CPR required
  • NLS required
  • Pleasure Craft License an asset
  • Knowledge of indoor/outdoor pool equipment and of safety equipment as it relates to pools
  • Experience working with computers is an asset

  • Able to guard outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Pays precise attention to detail, order and cleanliness
  • Able to handle problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
  • Guest oriented with an outgoing, sincere, helpful, caring and friendly personality
  • Able to work well with others and independently
  • Able to take initiative within given guidelines
  • Has exceptional energy, flexibility and professionalism
  • Has effective communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Is self-motivated, with high level of enthusiasm
  • Able to adapt in a fast pace, constant changing environment within a dynamic work schedule
  • Able to maintain composure and objectivity
  • Able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Is flexible with their schedule - shift work, evenings, weekends and holidays as business levels require
