About the role

Job Overview We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Server Specialist engineer to join the Server team at Hampshire. This role will be focused on managing and maintaining server operating systems and hosting systems across a wide array of clinical and administrative disciplines.

The post is full-time and permanent

Main duties of the job The Server team supports 1000+ Servers of which 90% are virtualized. The Server Specialist role is a key asset in maintaining operational activities of the IT servers and storage and hosting environments including critical business systems.

Duties Will Involve The Following Skillsets Customer engagement, negotiation and communication

Project management

Risk Management

Change Mangement

Windows Server Operating System migrations/upgrades

Nutanix HCI

VMWare

Working for our organisation At Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is at the heart of what we do at our three hospitals in Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover, as well as in the care we provide in the community. We provide medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire and specialist services to people across the UK and internationally.

Based in Winchester, you will also be required to work at the other HHFT sites at Basingstoke and Andover as required and participate in the Server Team on-call rota so personal transport is essential

Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria

  • Degree level or equivalent knowledge and skills
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable criteria

  • ITIL Practioner Qualification
  • Microsoft Certification
  • PRINCE2 Certification
  • Relevant IT Vendor Certification

Experience Essential criteria

  • Extensive IT experience gained within an enterprise environment
  • Evidence of depth and breadth of delivering it solutions across multiple disciplines
  • Specialist knowledge and expertise of at least one of the key IT areas

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge and experience of clinical systems
  • Thorough understanding of IT Security

Skills Essential criteria

  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate highly complex IT Functionality issues, whilst working under extreme pressure.
  • Able to plan and prioritise work
  • Analyses, investigate and resolve complex IM&T issues/problems
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Able to fit and rack server/ storage equipment
