Job Purpose
Reporting to the Program Manager, Sustainable Infrastructure, the Electrical Technologist is a critical member of a multi-disciplinary Department providing integrated project management, engineering, design and service work throughout Manitoba for all Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries facilities. As a lead technical resource, the incumbent will maintain and enhance the efficiency and reliability of all electrical systems and components.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain a solid foundation of current electrical engineering principles, local codes and standards.
- Lead electrical reviews on designs and technical submissions for projects and service work.
- Provide expertise, recommendations and actions that support CPS mandate for ensuring business continuity.
- Liaise with related equipment vendors and engineering consultants and act as technical interface.
- Participate in technical reviews of consultants’ studies, preparation of tender documents and development of tender specifications.
- Prepare electrical specifications and scope of work for projects not requiring certified engineering input.
- Develop switching procedures and participate in simulations, testing and actual critical activities.
- Create and maintain current and accurate electrical schematics, panel schedules, etc.
- Work closely with licensed staff electricians to coordinate critical system maintenance, testing, upgrades and additions.
- Monitor utility software and identify opportunities for improving efficiencies and reducing costs.
- Assist with electrical-related projects.
- Identify arc flash hotspots and label panel boxes appropriately.
- Research new and emerging electrical products, technologies or other industry related opportunities and determine/recommend products for MBLL implementation.
- Maintain and update blueprints and floor plans ensuring reliable records through database maintenance of CADD drawings.
- Maintain up to date and accurate Master Equipment Lists (MELs).
- When required, conduct site visits to verify drawings and MELs.
Primary Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in electrical engineering technology, combined with formal training in AutoCAD.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in design and/or field experience with complex electrical systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ongoing professional development is required to maintain designations and keep current with changes in the industry.
- Experience and proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook)
- Experience analyzing and prioritizing work or actions needed to ensure MBLL facilities remain operational.
- The core competencies for this position include achieving quality results, adaptability/managing change, communication, customer service, decision making and problem solving, integrity and building trust, teamwork and cooperation and valuing diversity. These competencies are deemed important for the success of the position and organization.
Secondary Qualifications

Bilingual French/English language skills are an asset.
