About the role
This competition is restricted to internal applicants of the University of Alberta.
Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.
The University is seeking a candidate who will enhance the academic interests of the Department of Emergency Medicine as well as the impact in emergency medicine specific research areas, including but not limited to the following:
- Educational Scholarship;
- Knowledge Synthesis and Knowledge Mobilization Research specific to the discipline of Emergency Medicine;
- Health System Outcomes;
- Clinical Informatics;
- Quality Improvement.
The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is one of the world’s top academic health science centres. With 21 departments, multiple research institutes and centres, and a focus on excellence in education, research, and clinical care, the faculty trains outstanding medical and dental professionals and drives global health innovation in collaboration with partners across sectors.
The successful applicant will be expected to mentor and teach residents, supervise summer and elective research students, and is encouraged to support graduate students. The role involves the development of an independent research program. Expectations include:
- Knowledge dissemination and research impact; reviewed annually with the Chair and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry Faculty Evaluation Committee (FEC).
- Complete a yearly Annual Faculty Review
The successful candidate will be a physician (MD) certified in emergency medicine by either the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC-Emergency Medicine) or the College ofthe College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC-Emergency Medicine), and be eligible for licensure with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
