About the role
As a Manufacturing Specialist, Engineering, you will be responsible for defining manufacturing plans and processes. You will define manufacturing flows, carry out capacity studies and participate in the definition and implementation of assembly procedures. You are responsible for activities leading up to the assembly of engineering prototypes, planning workspaces and purchasing equipment and tools. You will define and implement assembly and test flows that will eventually be transferred to production. You work with production teams to train them and make them autonomous in the manufacture of pre-production units. You will then play a key role in transferring processes, tools and test benches to mass production. You will participate in activities to monitor the performance of manufacturing processes in production, in order to optimize operational efficiency and product quality.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and document manufacturing flows for sub-assemblies and systems;
- Define and document production test flows;
- Define manufacturing processes for sub-assemblies and systems;
- Perform capacity and cycle time analyses;
- Evaluate and procure manufacturing equipment and tooling requirements;
- Take charge of the planning and coordination of prototype assembly;
- Participate in the planning and coordination of pre-production unit assembly;
- Optimize manufacturing processes;
- Contribute to the transfer of large-scale manufacturing to production;
- Contribute to the definition of work instructions for production operators;
- Plan and participate in process characterization activities;
- Plan and participate in equipment validation activities (IQ, OQ, PQ);
- Provide design expertise for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA);
- Provide design expertise for testability (DFT);
- Take charge of activities related to risk analysis of manufacturing processes (pFMECA);
- Ensure rigorous documentation and configuration management;
- Plan and participate in compliance analysis activities;
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives;
- Conduct planning and estimating activities for various projects.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in industrial, mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent;
- Minimum 7 years experience in manufacturing engineering;
- Experience in evaluating, designing and monitoring production processes;
- Excellent interpersonal skills (teamwork), leadership, autonomy and proactivity;
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and be comfortable making quick decisions in situations of risk and uncertainty;
- Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
- Bilingualism (French and English);
- Presence at the Boisbriand office two to five days a week, depending on the project.
ASSETS
- Experience in the medical field;
- Experience in robotics or with mechatronic systems;
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, JIRA and Confluence;
- Experience with repeatability and reproducibility tests (Gage R&R) and statistical methods;
- Knowledge of quality management principles and methodologies (ISO 13485);
- Knowledge of FDA regulations on quality systems (21 CFR Part 820);
- Experience with one or more of the following standards: IEC 60601, IEC 60204, ISO 13849 and UL1740.

About the role
