If this commitment to the environment and Canada's forests resonates with you, come join our team.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Position :</strong> <strong>Superintendent, Forestry Operations</strong></div><div><strong>Location : Chapleau, ON</strong></div><div><strong>&nbsp;</strong></div><div>GreenFirst is looking for a Superintendent to plan, organize and supervise the harvest operations for the Northern Ontario East (NOE) divisions, ensuring quality work with a view to supplying the mills in accordance with corporate objectives while maintaining a cost-effective manner.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Commitment:</strong></div><ul><li>Live up to GreenFirst's values, principles, and guidelines.</li><li>Bring an open and cooperative attitude to your job, contributing to our positive work environment.</li><li>Comply with all health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as applicable regulations and laws.</li></ul><div><strong>&nbsp;</strong></div><div><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></div><ul><li>Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, support Health &amp; Safety Program.</li><li>Lead a motivated, efficient and engaged harvest team, focused on safety, log quality and operational performance.</li><li>&nbsp;Coach and mentor employees to ensure alignment with unit objectives.</li><li>Provide direction to operations supervisors, conferring with customers, consultants, contractors or suppliers.</li><li>Liaison between operations and planning to avoid operational delays and ensure efficiency.</li><li>Maintain a communications program to keep your team informed.</li><li>Develop and maintain a good rapport between labour, customers, outside agencies (MNR, MTO, stakeholders and First Nations) other users and management.</li><li>Report to General Manager ? Forest Management, Northern Ontario East.</li><li>Participate in short term and mid-term planning pertaining to budget requirements, staff selection and projects to be undertaken.</li><li>Coordinate the activities of the Woodlands operation to maintain production targets, quality of wood product and wood supply for the Chapleau Sawmill.</li><li>Prepare harvest schedules, production statements and forecasts.</li><li>Responsible for investigations and reports such as cost estimates, harvest studies, unusual trouble analysis, etc.</li><li>Ensure that all operations adhere to the Federal, Provincial and Municipal Laws and Regulations.</li><li>Report and explain deviations from planned activities.</li><li>Recommend change/improvements to the General Manager.</li><li>Ensure the proper equipment is supplied at the lowest cost and highest availability through sound technical and practical evaluations.</li><li>Ensure all weather roads and bridges are constructed as specified in the Woodlands Annual Plan.</li><li>Ensure that the gravel road system is maintained through inspection and coordination of grading, snow removal, bridge repair and other activities.</li><li>Aid in the preparation of operational budgets.</li><li>Comply with corporate policies, procedures, programs and legislated regulations with respect to health, safety and the environment.</li><li>Ensure efficient and optimal utilization of available human and physical resources.</li><li>Oversee harvest and road operational planning to meet wood flow targets while remaining on budget.</li><li>Other related duties as assigned.</li></ul><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Requirements</strong>:</div><ul><li>Education: College diploma or equivalent in a related field.</li><li>Experience: Must have 5 + years in a similar role.</li><li>Bilingual: (English &amp; French) - An asset</li></ul><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Please send your resume and cover letter to: </strong>
