FINISHING TEAM LEAD

About the Role

Mylen Custom Kitchens is seeking a skilled and motivated Finishing Team Lead to support and guide our finishing department. This is a hands-on/working leadership role where you will work alongside your team while ensuring high-quality finishing standards, efficient workflow, and a safe, organized work environment.

You’ll play a key role in delivering premium cabinetry products by maintaining quality, supporting team members, and helping drive continuous improvement in finishing processes.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and support daily operations within the finishing department

• Perform all finishing tasks including sanding, prepping, staining, sealing, and coating

• Apply finishes such as stains, primers, and conversion varnishes with consistency and precision

• Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met or exceeded

• Reduce rework by ensuring accuracy at every stage of the finishing process

• Troubleshoot finishing issues and support corrective actions

• Train, guide, and support team members on best practices and procedures

• Assist with performance support and team development

• Maintain finishing equipment and perform minor repairs as needed

• Monitor material levels and support inventory needs

• Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures

• Step in and support other departments when required

What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience in cabinet finishing or woodworking

• Ability to work across all finishing stations and processes

• Experience with spray applications and finishing systems (manual and/or automated)

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment

• Effective communication and team support skills

• Leadership mindset — leads by example on the floor

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent experience.

• Woodworking/finishing experience required.

• Ability to understand and interpret engineering and technical drawings, as well as other written instructions and design specifications.

• Strong mathematical knowledge.

• Ability to read and take accurate measurements and finish materials to a high level of quality and precision.

• High level attention to detail.

• Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining speed and accuracy to ensure daily production requirements are met.

• Effective verbal and listening communication skills.

• Valid First Aid and CPR certification an asset.

• Valid transportation of dangerous goods certification an asset.

• Valid Joint Health and Safety Committee certification an asset.
