FINISHING TEAM LEAD
About the Role
Mylen Custom Kitchens is seeking a skilled and motivated Finishing Team Lead to support and guide our finishing department. This is a hands-on/working leadership role where you will work alongside your team while ensuring high-quality finishing standards, efficient workflow, and a safe, organized work environment.
You’ll play a key role in delivering premium cabinetry products by maintaining quality, supporting team members, and helping drive continuous improvement in finishing processes.
What You’ll Be Doing

Lead and support daily operations within the finishing department

Perform all finishing tasks including sanding, prepping, staining, sealing, and coating
-
Apply finishes such as stains, primers, and conversion varnishes with consistency and precision
-
Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met or exceeded
-
Reduce rework by ensuring accuracy at every stage of the finishing process
-
Troubleshoot finishing issues and support corrective actions
-
Train, guide, and support team members on best practices and procedures
-
Assist with performance support and team development
-
Maintain finishing equipment and perform minor repairs as needed
-
Monitor material levels and support inventory needs
-
Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures
-
Step in and support other departments when required
What We’re Looking For

Strong hands-on experience in cabinet finishing or woodworking
-
Ability to work across all finishing stations and processes
-
Experience with spray applications and finishing systems (manual and/or automated)
-
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
-
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
-
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
-
Effective communication and team support skills
-
Leadership mindset — leads by example on the floor
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
-
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent experience.
-
Woodworking/finishing experience required.
-
Ability to understand and interpret engineering and technical drawings, as well as other written instructions and design specifications.

Strong mathematical knowledge.
-
Ability to read and take accurate measurements and finish materials to a high level of quality and precision.
-
High level attention to detail.
-
Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining speed and accuracy to ensure daily production requirements are met.

Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
-
Valid First Aid and CPR certification an asset.
-
Valid transportation of dangerous goods certification an asset.
-
Valid Joint Health and Safety Committee certification an asset.
