Crowe MacKay & Company Ltd., a subsidiary of Crowe MacKay LLP, serves expert debt solutions through its Licensed Insolvency Trustees. The Insolvency department is excited to grow our team and is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Vancouver office. You will be an integral part of our knowledgeable team and will work at the forefront of prominent and interesting transactions. As a Staff Accountant, you will work directly with the Insolvency team to ensure our firm’s continued growth within our market where we maintain a reputation for quality service and results.

The Role

  • Prepare financial statements and supporting documents.

  • Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of corporate year ends, which includes compilation, review, and audit engagements.

  • Meet deadlines as assigned by the partners or Managers.

  • Participate in education, training and professional development programs.

  • Work independently and in a team environment under the direction of the leadership.

  • Assist with all aspects of insolvency including: bankruptcy and restructuring, CCAA, receivership and liquidation engagements.

  • Assist troubled companies, lenders, creditors, shareholders and other stakeholders through the course of financial reviews, business turnarounds, financial restructuring (formal or informal), bankruptcies and liquidations.

  • Conduct ongoing communications with debtors, creditors, the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and the Courts through creditor meetings, reports, attendance at Court, etc..

  • Travel to other offices and off-site locations as required.

What You Will Bring

  • Successfully obtained (or pursuing) an undergraduate degree that meets the CPA requirements, preferably a BCom or BBA (accounting focused).

  • Prepared to pursue the CPA designation through our Insolvency pre-approved program.

  • Interest in pursuing designations as a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) and a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT).

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).

  • Detail oriented, excellent organizational skills.

  • Exemplifies self-motivation and strong work ethic.

  • Ability to prioritize with the flexibility to manage workload demands and multiple tasks as required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • An innovative thinker, comfortable in a team and client-focused environment.

  • Self-starter, able to work independently.
