About the role

As a Senior Advisor, Client Relations, Group Retirement Savings, you help serve, prospect for, solicit, and develop and maintain business relationships with members and clients. You help sell life and health insurance products and services through various distribution channels based on member/client needs and current strategies and practices. Your focus areas include individual insurance, group insurance and retirement savings plans, insurance brokerage, segregated funds, travel insurance, and life and health insurance claims settlement. You lead clients and practitioners on sales and service development projects, initiatives and activities that significantly impact the entire organization and involve multiple business sectors. You take a strategic mindset to boost the organization’s development and profitability while retaining clients and stakeholders and ensuring their satisfaction. You draw on your networking skills and interpersonal savvy to develop and maintain business partnerships with important clients who have complex, diverse needs. Your complex, strategic initiatives require extensive knowledge of sales and service. You analyze complex problems and develop and implement personalized solutions tailored to client needs. In addition to serving as specialist and resource person for your unit, members and clients, you represent your unit before decision-making bodies. You help represent Desjardins and enter the organization into important agreements with clients. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Help the business unit develop and maintain relationships with strategic Group Retirement Savings clients.
  • Drive results by promoting solutions and the service offer in accordance with your unit’s business objectives and strategies.
  • Work with clients who have complex and diverse needs and offer significant development potential for the business unit.
  • Analyze client needs, and propose, develop and implement personalized solutions to help strategic clients achieve their objectives.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and follow-up of an action plan for strategic clients.
  • Work on complex initiatives requiring extensive knowledge of your line of business.
  • Provide a voice for strategic clients within Desjardins.
  • Represent Desjardins to strategic clients.
  • Proactively manage a portfolio of strategic clients and coordinate solutions with internal sectors in order to provide services, develop close ties with the clients and ensure a high degree of client satisfaction.
  • Gather and analyze data, draft outcome-based reports and formulate recommendations.
  • Develop and produce presentations on products and services to promote plans to the retirement committees and at clients’ annual general meetings.
  • Build business relationships with the retirement committees, pension plan sponsors, intermediaries and other stakeholders in the group retirement savings sector so as to anticipate client needs and ensure their full satisfaction with our services.
  • Organize client visits in accordance with service standards, foster solid relationships with them and maintain a high retention rate.
  • Advise clients on the best strategies and solutions and agree on the desired outcomes.
  • Manage the implementation of plans and complex modifications and liaise with internal sectors and external resources to ensure successful results.
  • Support the sales team by participating in large-scale, Canada-wide finalist presentations and meetings with intermediaries.
  • Frequently represent the unit when meeting with various senior management committee members and decision-making bodies.
  • Play a monitoring role to understand and anticipate trends in your field of expertise and make appropriate recommendations with a view to developing best practices for the organization.
  • See to member, client and stakeholder development, retention and satisfaction. Develop retention tactics and strategies.
  • Settle disputes with help from internal sectors, apprise them of potential problems and make recommendations to improve client satisfaction.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Knowledge of French is required
