About the role

A reputable manufacturing company in Aurora is looking for a Purchasing & Production Scheduling Coordinator to join its Production Operations team.

This opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys keeping the many moving parts of a manufacturing operation organized. You will be responsible for ensuring the plant has the materials and supplies it needs, working directly with suppliers, resolving purchasing issues and supporting inventory control.

What makes this position different from a traditional purchasing role is the opportunity to be cross-trained in production planning and scheduling. You will gain a broader understanding of how purchasing, material availability, production capacity and customer delivery commitments all work together. This is not a position where you will only be processing purchase orders. You will have the opportunity to build supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, identify cost-saving opportunities, support daily production priorities and see the direct impact of your work across the facility.

What You Will Be Doing

Purchasing and Supplier Management Purchase MRO materials, production supplies, packaging materials, inks, chemicals, office supplies and other plant-related products. Review purchasing requirements and ensure requests are complete, accurate and properly authorized. Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Production, Quality and other internal departments to understand purchasing needs. Source, evaluate and build relationships with new and existing suppliers. Request quotations, compare supplier options and negotiate pricing. Evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, service and delivery performance. Create and monitor purchase orders to ensure materials and services are received on time. Resolve purchasing, invoicing, delivery and supplier-performance issues. Support supplier approval programs and supplier performance reviews. Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, pricing databases and supplier documentation. Prepare purchasing reports and supply chain performance information.

Inventory and Materials Coordination

Maintain appropriate inventory levels for MRO items, production consumables and operating supplies. Work with warehouse and operations teams to monitor inventory usage and consumption trends. Help ensure materials are available to support production while avoiding unnecessary or excess inventory. Participate in cycle counts and annual physical inventories. Support inventory variance investigations and corrective actions. Assist with material planning based on upcoming production requirements. Identify opportunities to reduce inventory and purchasing costs without affecting plant operations.

Production Planning and Scheduling

Cross-train with the Production Planner and develop a working understanding of production scheduling. Assist with daily and weekly production schedules. Provide scheduling support during vacations, absences and busy production periods. Support the release and management of production work orders. Coordinate material availability based on production needs and customer commitments. Participate in daily production meetings and communicate priorities, changes and constraints. Monitor schedule progress and help identify potential bottlenecks or capacity concerns. Support on-time, in-full delivery objectives by coordinating purchasing, materials and production plans. Build the knowledge required to take on increased production-planning responsibilities over time.

What You Bring

Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, materials coordination or supply chain within a manufacturing environment. Experience purchasing MRO materials, production supplies, packaging materials, chemicals, inks or plant-related products is an asset. Strong understanding of purchase orders, supplier management and inventory-control practices. Experience sourcing suppliers, requesting quotations and negotiating pricing. An understanding of production planning or scheduling is an asset. Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel. Strong organizational and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail. The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with suppliers and internal teams. A practical, dependable and solutions-focused approach to your work.

What You Can Expect

A stable, full-time opportunity with a reputable manufacturing company. Paid vacation. A collaborative environment where purchasing works closely with plant leadership, production, warehouse, maintenance and quality. Formal cross-training in production planning and scheduling. The opportunity to broaden your supply chain experience beyond traditional purchasing. Meaningful responsibility and visibility across the manufacturing operation. The ability to contribute to supplier performance, cost savings, inventory improvements and on-time customer delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in being organized, enjoys solving problems and wants to build a broader career across purchasing, materials management and production planning.

Candidates with experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Specialist, Purchasing Coordinator, Procurement Coordinator, MRO Buyer, Materials Coordinator, Supply Chain Coordinator, Production Planner or Production Scheduling Coordinator are encouraged to apply.

Please submit an updated resume for consideration.
