We currently have an opening in Mississauga, ON: for a:
Shop Manager**:**
The Shop Manager oversees that day-to-day operations in the shop, ensuring that equipment and materials are supplied to job sites in the safest and most cost-effective manner.
How will you contribute to the team?:
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Work with the Shop Coordinator to purchase new materials or equipment for the job sites including providing input into the decision to rent or buy equipment.

Develop and manage vendor relationships and industry contacts.
-
Develop and manage the annual Shop Budget and closely monitor shop costs (rental, labor) and revenue).

Provide technical advice and information to sites on equipment including proper utilization, maintenance, and training requirements.
-
Maintain an understanding of codes and regulations (eg. hoisting, safety) that pertain to equipment and provide this knowledge to job sites as required.

Maintain equipment knowledge by monitoring trends and new technologies.
Education and Experience:
- Post Secondary Education in a construction-related field would be an asset.
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a shop environment with
- Extensive exposure to heavy construction equipment.
- Prior exposure to formwork would be an asset.
- Cranes, mobile and tower experience.
- Knowledge of hoisting maintenance and repair would be an asset.
- Strong knowledge of construction activities, materials and equipment.
- Computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organization skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong leadership and active supervision skills.
Working Conditions:
- Located in the Shop Office. Periodic travel to construction sites where personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety boots, safety classes and high visibility clothing) are required.
