This position will report to the Manager of Labour and Employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The HR Officer is a generalist position responsible for all aspects of human resources including recruiting and hiring staff, providing guidance on employee relations issues, and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, collective agreements, labor laws and regulations. This position will be the primary contact for designated department leaders and will provide leadership to the campus in workforce planning and HR policy.

  • Work as the liaison between the designated departments and Human Resources this includes such things as;
    • Coordinating the hiring process, including posting job openings, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and making job offers
    • Provide guidance to hiring managers regarding staff and student recruitment and selection, immigration compliance and eligibility to work in Canada
    • Participate in selection interviews, and coordinate tests/assessments
    • Ensure compliance with all collective agreements, policies and standard operating procedures, legislation and EDI requirements
    • Supporting organizational development including job descriptions and classification
    • Support employee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure new staff members are integrated into the university community.
  • Provide direct support with workplace planning to campus leadership
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures related to HR management, in collaboration with leadership and other stakeholders
  • Promoting diversity and inclusion through various actions and initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

Overall, a combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and personal qualities will be considered

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development, or a related field
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, organizational development, HR policy, and labour relations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build relationships
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to engagement initiatives
