Black Diamond Group’s Corporate Accounting department has a full-time position for Manager, Financial Reporting.

This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Manager, Financial Reporting to join our Corporate Finance team in Calgary. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the company’s internal and external financial reporting. The successful candidate will lead the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, public company filings, and technical accounting analysis in accordance with IFRS standards. The ideal candidate is a CPA-designated accounting professional with strong public company reporting experience and deep knowledge of IFRS and continuous disclosure requirements. You are analytical, highly organized, and confident in navigating complex accounting issues while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. You bring strong business acumen, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure internal and external financial reporting is timely and accurate with strong attention to detail and in accordance with IFRS

  • Preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated and legal entity financial statements, including note disclosures, working papers, and other public company filings, including Management Discussion and Analysis

  • Ensure accounting practices are appropriate, well implemented, and comply with accepted policies and procedures

  • Research, assess and document current accounting principles and the effect of new pronouncements on the company

  • Prepare for and coordinate with external auditors for all quarterly and annual financial reporting periods

  • Responsible for researching and determining the appropriate IFRS accounting treatment for complex transactions, including preparation of accounting memos and appropriate note disclosures

  • Compile and ensure completeness of documentation to support financial statements

  • Supports month-end and year-end closing

  • Responsible for assisting in Budget planning and analysis and rolling 12 month forecasts

  • Strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to build relationships at the executive level and cross-functionally

  • Thorough knowledge of IFRS; as well as continuous disclosure requirements

  • Potential to assist with accounting and financial due diligence on acquisitions/investments

  • Maintain and perform key controls in the financial reporting process

  • Provided leadership, mentorship and direction to team

  • Demonstrated indirect leadership and support to Cross functional accounting teams

Qualifications

  • Accounting degree or equivalent

  • Accounting designation (CPA, CA) required

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS

  • Knowledge of auditing practices and principles

  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in the management of external financial reporting for a public company, financial data analysis, and full cycle accounting

  • Self-starter and ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment

  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Possess a professional and ethical attitude
