The Opportunity
This position oversees alumni engagement, donor relations, communications and event management functions that support relationship building and fund development initiatives at SAIT. Alumni and Development is responsible for the stewardship of almost 200,000 active alumni and more than 4,500 donors.
This leadership role is a key member of the Advancement Leadership Team and focuses on developing and executing the vision and strategic direction for alumni engagement strategies and initiatives, as well as donor stewardship strategies, all aimed at building
loyalty, giving and lifelong engagement.
You'll play a critical role in:
- Driving alumni engagement and participation
- Donor stewardship and recognition
- The Real Futures Campaign, a significant institutional initiative to raise $150m supporting what, who and how we teach
- Implementing a new CRM system within the business operations of Alumni & Development
- Planning and execution of the grand opening of the new Taylor Family Campus Centre

The Role
-
- Conceive and champion strategies for bringing alumni and students closer to SAIT in order to build lifelong engagement, pride in the institution and to sustain and enhance the value of their SAIT credentials
- Develop strategies to provide the institution with appropriate Communications channels and content, to further affinity and contact with alumni over the long term
- Strategically manage and steward affinity relationships with select businesses to provide value-added benefits and services to SAIT Alumni
- Lead the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of short and long term strategies centered on meeting donor's needs and serve to increase lifelong loyalty to SAIT such as acknowledgement, stewardship, recognition and engagement
- Support campaign success through development and oversight of campaign communications, including case for support collateral, donor recognition plan, naming opportunities plan and such other resources necessary to enable SAIT executive, volunteers, and fund development staff to promote SAIT effectively to potential donors
- Support annual fundraising campaigns through development of integrated communications strategies for Family Campaign and Giving Day
- Provide leadership and direction consistent with SAIT’s Employee Value Proposition for a high performing, cohesive team including recruitment, coaching and mentoring, performance management, career planning, and evaluation of employees
- Evaluate business unit activities to ensure return on investment and effective use of resources in reaching departmental targets
- Report unit performance results, including alumni engagement metrics
- Develop and deliver an integrated communications strategy including inputs from Marketing and Communications to ensure alignment
- Lead and direct the development, management and evaluation of publications and communications outlets (i.e. website, publications, reports and events) to facilitate optimal stakeholder engagement
Qualifications & Experience
-
- Minimum bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field (advancement, alumni or donor relations) with preference given to an undergraduate or graduate degree
- Leadership and management training and experience combined with a strong background in advancement, customer service, project management, marketing, communications or public relations
- Preferred experience developing alumni and donor engagement strategies or communication strategy within a post-secondary environment
- Experience developing and executing donor relations and communications toward a large fundraising campaign would be considered an asset
- Counsel for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) or Canadian Counsel for Advancement of Education (CCAE) involvement would be preferred
- IABC, CPRS, or other Communications organization membership would be an asset
- Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) or other Donor Relations organization membership would be considered an asset

Salary range: $121,000 - $148,000
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
Hours Per Week: 37.5
