##Job Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Solid Waste Planning, the Waste Management Program Coordinator position will primarily support the planning, implementation and coordination of the wheeled cart program for garbage and organics across the Region. Responsibilities will also include collecting and evaluating data for reporting and providing recommendations on continuous program improvement to support the divisional objectives and long-term strategic goals of Halton Region.
##Duties & Responsibilities
- Co-ordinates the planning, implementation and administration of waste management programs.
- Performs data collection and analysis as well as program monitoring and reporting to support the execution of an automated waste collection program.
- Interprets and reviews compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations in regard to various property types and waste management programs.
- Conducts research and analysis of new and emerging trends, policies and technologies in waste management for reporting and recommendations on Halton’s programs for various property types.
- Responds to public inquiries regarding the Region’s waste management programs.
- Provides effective customer service and public outreach and education to various ages, in a variety of settings, on Waste Management programs.
- Assists in physically delivering waste management program tools to various locations, including physical acts such as lifting, carrying, walking long distances and conducting outdoor or indoor property site visits as required.
- Performs other duties as required.
##Skills & Qualifications
- University degree in Environmental Science/Studies with a minimum of two (2) years experience in solid waste management are required.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in research, data management, policy development, planning and program implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrated skills in MS - Office - Teams, Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently & within a team.
- Strong time management skills, be able to manage work flow in order to complete work on time and as expected, and if required, the ability to work remotely from home.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks associated with waste program implementation including lifting objects or waste materials, carrying and/or moving waste containers of various sizes, walking and delivering promotional materials.
- Must possess excellent customer service and complaint resolution skills.

Travel will be required between office locations and facilities within Halton Region. The incumbent must supply their own transportation.

Flexibility in working hours will be required and there will be the occasional need for work on evenings and/or weekends.

- Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, by the first day of employment.
- The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license and abstract by their first day of employment.
