Position Description

We are seeking a Lab Research Project Coordinator to join our research team in the laboratory of Dr. Grace Egan at the Sick Kids Research Institute. Our laboratory is focused on studying leukemia cells and stem cells to develop better therapies for young patients with this disease. The selected candidate will oversee the daily operations of a dynamic research laboratory focused on translational leukemia biology and therapeutic development. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in molecular biology techniques, as well as proven organizational and leadership skills.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:

This role involves supervising junior lab staff and trainees, overseeing compliance and biosafety, maintaining and purchasing equipment and supplies, implementing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), supporting and coordinating ongoing research activities, including molecular, cellular, and in vivo studies. The position requires advanced technical proficiency, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced research environment.

Here's What You'll Need:

  • PhD degree in biological science
  • Minimum of 6 years' related experience
  • Experience in cell culture is mandatory
  • Extensive experience in molecular biology including standard cloning, cell culture, transfection/transduction, CRISPR editing, western blotting, qPCR.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team independently and supervise lab staff and trainees
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
