**Position:**Instrument Technician - Full time
**Primary Location:**North Vancouver, British Columbia
**Shift:10 hours per day-**40 hours work week – Monday to Thursday or Tuesday - Friday - 7am - 5pm
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Compensation:$66.53/hr + benefits
The CAD hourly rate for this position is $66.53 + benefits. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. Please note that the compensation details listed in the Canadian roles postings reflect the hourly rate only, and do not include benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives such as overtime and shift premiums.

About This Position and About You
Reporting to the supervisor, the Instrument mechanic will perform and support various activities including, but not limited to, preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance, as per work orders and/or supervisor’s instructions, in a safe and efficient manner. This position provides excellent opportunity to obtain Instrumentation and controls experiences in a challenging industrial manufacturing environment. You will be part of a team of Electricians, Instrumentation Mechanics, Millwrights, Pipefitters, and control specialists; we have a great team and are excited for you to join us. This is a unionized position based on 4 days a week, 10 hours per day (7 am – 5 pm). Occasional overtime on evenings and weekends may be required
In This Role, You Will:
- Test, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, and replace, control valves, transmitters, flowmeters, various sensors, etc.
- Work with other trades and/or automation specialists to troubleshoot and repair control systems as needed.
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, safety and environmental standards, good housekeeping, and Responsible Care practices.
- Be available to work some overtime and weekends as required.
- Maintain familiarity, and comply with all Chemtrade corporate and site Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures.
- Applicants with both Electrical and Instrumentation certification are preferred.
- Any other duties as required by the supervisor.
Work Conditions
- This is an electrochemical, industrial, process type plant. Much of the work is outdoors and frequent walking, bending, crouching, squatting, climbing ladders, etc. may be required.
- The ability to complete assigned safety training and follow Chemtrade’s safe work policies and practices are conditions of employment.
A Successful Candidate Has:
Knowledge
- Must possess Inter-provincial Journeyman Instrumentation Certification (red seal). Additional trades certifications may be helpful.
- 3+ years’ experience in a journeyman maintenance Instrumentation role, industrial environment experience is preferred.
Competencies
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision to identify and solve complex problems.
- Knowledge and experience with the installation and maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of various instruments, probes, sensors, programming of logic control systems.
- Computer literacy with the ability to work with MS Office applications.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs without assistance.
- For purposes of performing work: must be able to sit, stand, walk, crouch, squat, climb ladders, etc. without any difficulties.
- Must pass company medical and background checks.
