Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.
The Clinical Manager of the Acute Assessment Program – Level 3 is currently seeking a Temporary Full-Time Unit Clerk. The purpose of the position is to provide clerical services to the Clinical Manager and clinical staff and to maintain patient files.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure filing and integrity of patient records, reconciliation of admission and discharge files and preparation of all legal documentation
- Reconciling nursing payroll and scheduling
- Prepare legal certificates, patient notices, preparation and monitoring and distribution of all legal documentation and Mental Health Act forms (i.e. legal certificates, patient notices, certificates of renewal)
- Provide a variety of clerical support to Program staff and patients, maintain a system for timelines, support for day-to-day requests, and gather data for statistical purposes
- Act as the first point of contact and provide reception service
- Arrange/coordinate client appointments, tests, and consultations
- Ordering supplies
- Providing administration assistance to the clinical managers, minute recording, managing and archiving documents and other assignments.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Medical Terminology from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Minimum of three years recent and related experience with administrative office procedures and practices in a hospital environment preferred
- Preference for experience with ORB and CCB processes preferred
- Experience with providing administrative support for various court proceedings an asset
- Recent and related experience with admission/transfer/discharge procedures is an asset
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with a variety of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite, Quadrant HR, and Meditech considered an asset, SMART.
- Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results working individually and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated customer service, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to adapt readily to change
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Models and promote core ethical practice, Waypoint Values, and reflect an optimistic and positive attitude
- Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
