The Opportunity:
The Host/Hostess is primarily responsible for clerical and receptionist duties, assisting with the development and coordination of activities and leading activities that meet the needs of the retirement community’s residents, serving meals, setting tables, and maintaining the cleanliness of the dining room.
What Is In It For You:
- Provides services and resident interactions in a professional manner with a focus on customer service.
- Assists with the completion of resident profiles when a new resident moves into the home.
- Assists in the development and implementation of activities that meet the six dimensions of wellness. (Social, physical, intellectual, emotional, vocational and spiritual needs of all residents.)
- Assists with the development, preparation, and delivery of communication tools (newsletters, posters, notices, calendars etc.) designed to provide residents in the retirement community, seniors located outside of our retirement community and volunteers, with information regarding current and future activities and special events.
- Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Programs Manager in a timely and effective manner.
- Creates a safe, pleasant, creative, and non-threatening engaging environment.
- Greet residents and other patrons, present menu options and other food and beverage choices, answer questions regarding options and takes orders.
What You Will Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum Grade 10 is required.
- Formal training or equivalent on the job experience is preferred.
- Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to follow direction and have a willingness to learn.
- Must be capable of routine work with minimal supervision.
- Possess strong leadership ability and the willingness to work in collaboration with others.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills interacting with residents, families, volunteers, and staff.
