Your Team, Your Impact

The data center group builds highly integrated component platforms with high speed Silicon photonics, transmit and receive amplifiers, controller ASIC’s with Marvell DSP’s in the form of pluggable modules. These components are made operational with a highly functional embedded firmware. The team is responsible for design, verification, and validation of these integrated high speed optical components. The team performs system level testing under various operating conditions, and validates the performance of the hardware, firmware and control loops. An engineer in this team will be involved in a full product lifecycle and will carry new products from inception all the way to NPI

The successful candidate will be part of the system verification team and responsible for testing of optical pluggable modules and ensuring spec compliance.

What You Can Expect

  • Develop optical test beds.
  • Develop automation test software code and run tests to measure pluggable performance.
  • Collaborate with validation and firmware teams to improve the performance of the pluggable.
  • Root cause and failure analysis of the pluggable.
  • Write technical reports and present findings to broader team.

What We're Looking For

  • Master’s degree with 3 to 4 years of industrial experience OR a PhD in electrical engineering with 1-2 years of industrial experience.
  • Strong foundation in coherent optical communication systems including fiber transmission penalties such as Chromatic dispersion, PMD, SPM and XPM.
  • Familiarity with DSP compensation algorithms.
  • Proficient with optical test equipment usage such as Erbium doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA’s), variable optical attenuators (VOA’s), optical spectrum analyzers (OSA’s) etc.
  • Proficient with electrical test equipment and usage such as scopes and RF spectrum analyzers.
  • Strong knowledge of Python, MATLAB knowledge an asset.
  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to take initiative and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
