Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Chartered Appraiser will be responsible for managing property valuation files, more specifically:

  • Collecting, analyzing, and compiling relevant data to validate the accuracy of municipal assessments for taxation purposes;
  • Visiting and inspecting properties;
  • Analyzing and commenting on external real estate appraisal reports or any other types of reports, for transactional, leasing, and tax purposes;
  • Maintaining up-to-date documentation related to property valuations;
  • Assisting external consultants in negotiating settlements for disputed files, particularly with respect to legal aspects (eligibility, equipment, occupants, etc.);
  • Managing files for various purposes, including the contestation of property values for tax purposes;
  • Leading property assessment appeal files and potential negotiations;
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for valuation matters with various departments (legal, investments, etc.);
  • Performing any other related duties associated with property valuations.

QUALIFICATIONS

You possess the following:

  • Active membership in good standing with the Ordre des évaluateurs agréés du Québec;
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Architecture, or Engineering;
  • Relevant initial experience in a similar position;
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, codes, and standards related to the position’s field of activities and responsibilities;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Strong judgment, analytical, and synthesis skills;
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, leadership, and creativity;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both French and English.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to make decisions, solve problems, and establish priorities;
  • Strong negotiator with a problem-solving mindset;
