Company Description Living Local Magazine is a monthly, complimentary publication dedicated to Waterloo Region, including Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, and surrounding areas. The magazine focuses on local businesses, restaurants, builders, designers, and entrepreneurs who shape the region’s current landscape. Readers engage deeply with the content, recognizing familiar neighbourhoods, businesses, and community stories. For advertisers, Living Local offers consistent visibility and connection with a trusted, community-focused brand. At its core, the magazine is about building strong connections between businesses, readers, and the wider community. Role Description The Salesperson will be responsible for generating advertising revenue by building and maintaining relationships with local businesses across Waterloo Region. Day-to-day activities include prospecting new clients, conducting in-person meetings, presenting advertising options, preparing proposals, and managing the sales cycle from initial contact to closing and renewal. The role involves collaborating with internal teams to ensure accurate ad placements and alignment with editorial content, as well as tracking sales performance and maintaining up-to-date records in CRM or other sales tools. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Waterloo, ON, requiring regular visits to local businesses and participation in community and networking events.
Qualifications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and long-term relationships with diverse business owners and stakeholders. Proven sales or account management experience, ideally in advertising, media, or related fields, including prospecting, negotiation, and closing deals. Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, meet deadlines, and achieve sales targets. Comfort with in-person outreach, presentations, and networking within the local community, including attending events and visiting client locations. Basic proficiency with digital tools such as email, CRM systems, spreadsheets, and presentation software. Knowledge of or interest in the Waterloo Region business community and local market trends. Ability to work independently on-site while collaborating effectively with editorial, design, and operations teams. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for visiting clients in Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, Guelph, and surrounding areas. Previous experience in magazine, print, or local media advertising is an asset. High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to inclusive, community-oriented business practices.
