Job Description

The Division of General Surgery in the Department of Surgery is seeking a full-time associate acute care surgeon (ACS) to join our group of eight surgeons. Remuneration is fee-for-service as set by the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees and eligibility to receive the HOCC stipend for completed nights on-call.

Accountabilities:

  • On-call daily from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with two to three overnight shifts per week and a minimum of one in every four weekends (Friday-Sunday)
  • Must be available during daytime hours to receive all new consults from the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, inpatient wards and all intra-operative consultations
  • Must be available for daytime opportunities as a surgical assistant in the operating room and have 24/7 support from one of the other general surgeons
  • Will be provided with one block per week in our outpatient clinic for patient follow-ups, which includes associated administrative support and overhead costs

Qualifications

  • Certificate of registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

  • Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population)
