What is the Opportunity?
RBC offers an exciting role as an Employee Relations, Regulatory Compliance Lead. The Regulatory Compliance Lead within the Employee Relations Policy & Regulatory Compliance team is responsible for assessing global employment regulatory responsibilities, conducting impact assessments, and developing action plans to ensure compliance with evolving employment laws and financial industry regulations. This role will monitor for potential gaps between company policies and legislative requirements, lead risk mitigation strategies, and partner with key stakeholders to drive compliance initiatives.
What will you do?
- Regulatory Compliance Management & Risk Assessment: monitor, assess and interpret global employment laws, labour regulations and financial industry ER compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Conduct regulatory impact assessments to evaluate changes in laws. Develop action plans and compliance roadmaps to ensure timely implementation of regulatory requirements across ER policies and practices. Provide strategic recommendations on regulatory risks, policy alignment and practice improvements.
- Partner with Law Group, Compliance and HR teams to proactively manage employment-related risks and regulatory obligations. Track and report key compliance risks and remediation efforts to senior leadership.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to employment law and industry regulations.
- Policy Development: monitor for potential gaps between company policies, HR practices and evolving legislative requirements, recommending policy revisions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training: Provide training and guidance to HR business partners, Employee Relations teams and senior leaders on regulatory changes, compliance best practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Serve as subject matter expert on global ER compliance issues, offering strategic recommendations on policy updates and risk controls.
- Evaluate industry benchmarks and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance compliance effectiveness.
- Drive a culture of proactive risk management and regulatory awareness within Employee Relations and across the HR functions.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Employment Law, Compliance or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Employee Relations, HR Compliance, Employment Law or HR Governance within a global financial services or regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of global labour laws, employment regulations and financial industry HR compliance requirements. Experience conducting compliance audits, impact assessments and policy reviews.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical policies, procedures, guidelines and/or action plans.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (Legal, Compliance, Risk, HR/Employee Relations).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Master’s Degree or JD preferred.
- Experience with compliance reporting tools is a plus.
