About the role

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field (CHRP, CHRL, or similar Canadian HR designation is an asset)
  • 7–10 years of progressive HR experience as a Generalist or HR Business Partner, preferably supporting multi-provincial Canadian operations
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment law across multiple provinces, including Employment Standards Acts (ESA) in provinces such as British Columbia, Alberta, New Brunswick, and Ontario, as well as common law employment practices
  • Demonstrated experience applying HR policies and practices in a multi-jurisdictional environment
  • Hands-on experience with ROEs, benefits administration, onboarding/offboarding, and HR compliance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to influence leaders, manage employee relations issues, and support change management initiatives
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential information

What the job involves

  • This role supports employees and leaders across multiple Canadian provinces, including British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, ensuring alignment with applicable provincial employment standards and regulatory requirements
  • The HRBP will support and execute key human resources initiatives across a wide range of functions, including employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, onboarding/offboarding, and organizational development
  • This role requires strong expertise in multi-jurisdictional Canadian employment law, including provincial Employment Standards Acts (ESA) and common law employment practices, and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, business-aligned HR solutions
  • Provide strategic and operational HR guidance aligned with business objectives and multi-provincial Canadian employment requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Canadian federal and provincial employment laws, supporting operations across all provinces
  • Interpret and apply provincial Employment Standards Acts (ESA) and common law principles across multiple jurisdictions
  • Partner with business leaders to support organizational design, workforce planning, and talent development initiatives
  • Provide performance management guidance and support leadership in driving effective people management practices
  • Support and administer core HR processes including onboarding and offboarding, ensuring compliance with province-specific requirements
  • Manage and process Records of Employment (ROEs) in accordance with Canadian regulations
  • Administer employee benefits programs, ensuring alignment with regional requirements and acting as liaison with providers
  • Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files within the HRIS system (UKG)
  • Manage leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with applicable provincial legislation across multiple jurisdictions
  • Partner with leadership to address employee relations matters, conducting thorough, fair, and legally compliant investigations
  • Communicate and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with multi-provincial legal requirements and company standards
  • Identify training and coaching needs within business units and support development initiatives
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends, regulatory changes, and best practices across Canadian provinces
  • Support complex and sensitive HR matters, including accommodations, investigations, and terminations, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation across jurisdictions
  • Coordinate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee data across provinces
