Working closely with the General Manager and Asset Management Team, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the BPM (Business Partner Management) framework, through collaboration and partnership with business leaders, integrating existing and new business partners into the key requirements of the framework, and ensuring ongoing compliance with the framework through coaching, training, and assurance activities. Will play a key role in implementing the desired cultural transformation in business partner management. Will work on a 4/3 or 7/7 schedule, depending on home port.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Be responsible for developing and implementing deployment and gap closure plans to ensure the application of the BPM Framework on site.
  • Perform any other tasks related to the contractor manager position that are relevant to the success of the project.
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies and rules at all times.
  • Report any situation that could affect the health and safety of staff and the physical integrity of facilities.
  • Collaborate with other senior BPM specialists at different sites to share and adopt best practices.
  • Monitor overall progress in relation to the business plan, including key performance indicators (KPIs) for the contractor management implementation team.
  • Improve the overall effectiveness of implementation and promote organizational learning within the operation or function to ensure that processes are firmly established.
  • Based on the business partner standard, develop local procedures (if necessary) to ensure the sustainability of implementation and establish governance structures and processes.
  • Facilitate and implement the integration of cross-functional support systems and processes across the operation or function.
  • Determine the full-time or part-time resources required for the operation or function, based on size, complexity, and identified gaps.
  • Plan and execute Contract Management Assessments (CMAs) for Contract Owners and Single Points of Accountability (SPAs), ensuring proper planning of end-to-end processes.
  • Collaborate with the project team and the designated risk and compliance management role to identify and manage implementation risks.
  • Carry out assurance activities to confirm compliance with BPM Framework requirements.
  • Support the GM approval process for high-risk specialized business partners present on site.
  • Manage the list of approved business partners, including the subcontractor register.
  • Manage the register of contract representatives.
  • Review and approve risk tier and management approach assessments.
  • Facilitate the Change Impact Assessment (CIA) for the operation or function to ensure readiness for change and develop deployment plans. Also be responsible for implementing the training framework, in collaboration with the project team and the training department.
  • Ensure that all leaders, business partners, and stakeholders are engaged and trained in the BPM Framework through effective information and training sessions.
  • Play a leadership role in cultural transformation through analysis, planning, modeling expected behaviors, and supporting other site leaders.

Qualifications required

  • Hold a university or college degree in a relevant field;
  • Have 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in contractor management or equivalent experience;
  • Experience in the mining industry or other highly regulated environments;
  • Bilingualism in English and French (will be required to work with English-speaking suppliers and consultants).

Technical skills

  • Proficiency in organizational assessment and analysis tools;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.).

  • Have strong analytical skills;

  • Be an excellent communicator;
  • Have excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills;
  • Have a strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders;
