About the role
Role Profile:
We are looking for a Manager to join our Corporate and Common Group Accounting Team. This team supports ATCO’s Corporate entities and Common Group functions and has two core responsibilities as follows:

Planning/ Budgeting/ Forecasting – which includes:
- Developing the Business Plan for the Corporate entities and Common Group functions including working closely with Common Group leaders and other Corporate Finance functions to develop and validate assumptions.
- Monitoring the actual results compared to the approved Business Plan, including reviewing results with a variety of stakeholders, including cost centres owners, Common Group leaders and Senior Executives, and updating the monthly and full year forecast as required.
- Providing accounting support to Common Group leaders on a variety of cost savings initiatives.

Transactional Support - which includes:
- Month end close process for numerous large and small Corporate and Common Group entities including generating journal entries, validating actuals, reconciling accounts, and posting of period end adjustments. Includes both routine and complex entries including potentially share based compensation.
- Reporting actual results on a monthly and quarterly basis to our Consolidation/ Public Company Reporting team.
- Working closely with the Accounting Teams from the other ATCO Business Units to ensure that Corporate and Common Groups costs allocated to them are correctly accounted for and reconciled.
- Where applicable, working closely with the Accounting Standards team to ensure complex corporate transactions, including M&A and investment activity, are properly accounted for.

Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-Day Management
- Provide direction and guidance to the team in support of the responsibilities outlined above
- Manage the workload and work assignments of the team
- Assist and support staff on non-routine transactions and issues requiring resolution
- Ensure the consistent application of processes and procedures in compliance with all internal policies and financial reporting requirements
- Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders including the Common Group Leaders and their respective teams, other Corporate accounting teams, including Intercompany, Treasury, Accounting Standards and Public Company Reporting, and Business Unit Finance teams
- Work closely with Senior Finance leaders to finalize Corporate and Common Group deliverables
Process Management and Improvement
- Cultivate an environment of continuous improvement including identifying and implementing changes (people, process and/or technology)
- Assist in developing and implementing strengthened internal control policies and procedures
- Assist and support staff in the preparation of audit working papers and materials
Leadership

Lead a team with diverse levels of experience and backgrounds including CPA students

Develop highly skilled and well-trained staff to ensure operational excellence is continually maintained

Perform supervisory functions including interviewing and recommending new hires, providing or arranging training for the staff, evaluating staff performance and creating developmental plans
Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree
-
Canadian Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
-
Minimum of 8 years, post-CPA, technical experience
-
Experience in a formal leadership role including mentoring and coaching
-
Proficiency in Oracle E-Business Suite of products including General Ledger (and related reporting capabilities) and Oracle FCCS. Equivalencies such as SAP and JDE may be considered.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated professionalism and work ethic
