About the Role
Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice-President, Collections and Research provides enterprise-wide leadership for the development, preservation, and curatorial research of Canada’s scientific and technological heritage.
This executive portfolio leads and oversees:
- Curatorial and conservation functions
- Library and archival services
- Research leadership and scholarly development
- Knowledge mobilization and public engagement with collections
You will ensure the long-term stewardship and relevance of Ingenium’s national collection, while expanding its impact across Ingenium’s three museums (Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and Canada Science and Technology Museum), digital platforms, the Ingenium Centre and the Research Institute.

- Lead with vision : Position Ingenium as a global leader in sharing Canada’s scientific and innovation heritage and related stories
- Advance research excellence : Champion interdisciplinary research aligned with national priorities such as innovation, sustainability, and inclusion
- Activate the collection : Drive innovative ways to foster belonging and connect Canadians with their scientific and technological heritage
- Strengthen public value : Enhance scientific and technological literacy and demonstrate the role of innovation in shaping Canada’s future
- Collaborate broadly : Build partnerships across academia, government, industry, and cultural institutions
Who You Are
You are a dynamic, forward-thinking leader with:
- A deep understanding of collections stewardship, research, and public knowledge institutions
- A proven track record of executive leadership in museums, academia, or related sectors
- A passion for science, technology, and their role in society
- The ability to translate complex ideas into meaningful public engagement
- Extensive experience in research, collections, or curatorial environments
- Established record of research, publication, or scholarly contribution
- A commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility
- Experience working within or alongside Crown, government or public institutions
- Significant experience managing financial and human resources
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
- Expert knowledge in a relevant discipline such as the history of technology, engineering, conservation science, agriculture, or aviation heritage
- Deep understanding of museum practices, collections stewardship, and research methodologies.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in digitization, sustainability, and science communication.
- Outstanding management expertise, the capacity to develop and lead strategic plans, and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive and diverse team building, staff development and stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of issues and trends of cultural heritage, science, technology, museums and broader public.
EDUCATION
- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline (museology, history of technology, engineering, conservation science, agriculture, or aviation heritage); PhD is an asset
- Established national or international reputation in a relevant field
