POSITION SUMMARY
The Pastry Chef is responsible for executing the pastry and baking operations within the culinary department. This role oversees the preparation and presentation of high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, and specialty baked goods while ensuring consistency, creativity, and exceptional guest experiences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and oversee the production of pastries, desserts, breads, cakes, and specialty baked goods.
- Ensure all pastry items meet established quality, presentation, and consistency standards.
- Maintain high standards of creativity and innovation in dessert offerings.
- Execute pastry production for restaurants, banquets, catering events, and seasonal programming.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to design seasonal dessert menus and specialty offerings.
- Develop creative dessert concepts aligned with the property’s brand and culinary vision.
- Test and refine recipes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and cost control.
- Coordinate pastry production timelines for events and high-volume service periods.
- Assist with special culinary events, tastings, and seasonal programming.
- Support overall kitchen operations when required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Formal culinary or pastry training preferred.
- 3–5 years of pastry experience in a hotel, resort, restaurant, or bakery environment.
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, chocolate work, and dessert presentation.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and creativity.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF POSITION**(include but are not limited to):**
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs.
- Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a hospitality environment.
